Services Covered by Membership of Clinic
- Surgical & Gynaecological Procedures
Minor surgical and gynaecological procedures carried out in the clinic by
the GP or may be a visiting specialist such as:
Gynaecological
* Pap Smear
* Insertion or removal of intrauterine device
* Cautery to a cervical lesion etc
Surgical
* Incision and drainage of abscess
* Suturing of wounds
* Cryotherapy
* Excision of small growths or lesions
* Straightforward bone fractures set with Plaster of Paris, etc

- Dietary Advice
- Antenatal Care
which includes regular monitoring with ultrasound scans, and postnatal care
including the postnatal check six weeks after delivery. Antenatal classes
are available - please ask nursing staff for information.
- Newborn Infants
are covered under the mother's clinic membership for consultation and treatment
as an outpatient from birth up to two weeks of age. Thereafter
it is required that the baby becomes a member in his/her own right and the
relevant subscription paid. The relevant membership rules will then apply.
- Under-five's Clinic
weighing and monitoring of infant's progress and advice given where appropriate,
and full vaccination schedule as per the current District Health Management
Team and WHO programme. Any other vaccines will be supplied by the patient.
- Road Ambulance
In conjunction with Speciality
Emergency Services (SES) a fully equipped critical care road ambulance
is available to clinic members for use in emergencies within Lusaka city,
to a range of 10kms from Care For Business. The ambulance can be used for
emergency travel outside Lusaka, but in this event a charge would be made
by SES.
Calling the ambulance - The ambulance may only be called by the doctor.
If a patient needs to be transported by ambulance, he/she should first call
cfb and speak to the duty doctor, who will authorise use of the ambulance
if he/she deems it necessary.
In cases of simple patient transfers requiring no intensive medical attention,
the community ambulance will be used.
- 24 Hour Doctor
A doctor is available 24 hours for emergencies, based in the hospital.
- Pharmacy
A pharmacy is available in the clinic for the patients' convenience open at
the following times:
Weekdays 08.00 - 18.00hrs
Saturday 09.00 - 12.30hrs
Sundays and public holidays 09.00 - 11.00hrs
A stock of essential medicines is kept available in the hospital for emergency
use. Normally the patient would be given the first doses of the prescribed
drugs and would be asked to return the next day during pharmacy hours to collect
the balance of the prescription.
The pharmacy carries a wide range of medicines, but is not a fully-fledged
chemist and may not always stock all the medicines required.
All drugs are charged separately and are not included in the clinic
or hospital membership.
- If a patient arrives more than 10 minutes late for an appointment the appointment
time becomes invalid.
NB: The Board of Directors is still in the process of
deciding whether specified lab tests, X-ray procedures or any other specialised
test will incur extra charges.
